TNG eWallet Enhances Everyday Convenience with Expanded QR Scanning Feature

TNG Digital Sdn Bhd has introduced a notable upgrade to its TNG eWallet app, extending its quick‑response (QR) scanning feature well beyond payment transactions. As of August 26, users can now effortlessly scan a wide variety of non‑payment QR codes—ranging from menus and forms to tickets—directly within the app, eliminating the need for external scanning apps and streamlining daily tasks.

This expansion aligns with TNG eWallet’s vision of serving as an all‑in‑one digital companion, merging financial services—such as e‑commerce, bill payments, insurance, investments, and international remittances—with lifestyle tools to enrich user experience. Alan Ni, CEO of TNG Digital, emphasised that while integrating broader QR capabilities might seem incremental, it significantly enhances life’s convenience by letting users scan any QR code at any time, all within a single trusted app.

The move builds on TNG eWallet’s already impressive ecosystem. The platform supports international QR payments across more than 60 countries by leveraging partnerships with payment networks like Alipay+. This robust cross-border feature has made the app indispensable for both Malaysians abroad and foreign visitors, further reinforcing its position as a versatile digital tool.

TNG’s commitment to seamless integration extends to supporting micro and small businesses as well. The company offers free static QR codes and access to a Merchant Dashboard to help traders accept cashless payments, manage transactions, and gain customer insights—all integrated with DuitNow QR under PayNet’s unified system.

With over 15 million users and a network spanning hundreds of thousands of merchant touchpoints—from everyday street vendors to major retailers—TNG eWallet continues to enhance its convenience and utility, solidifying its role as a cornerstone of Malaysian digital life.
