Ryt Bank Wins AI Award at PIKOM Digital Excellence Awards 2025

KUALA LUMPUR: Ryt Bank, Malaysia’s digital-first financial institution backed by YTL Group in partnership with Sea Limited, has been recognised in the “AI” category at the PIKOM Digital Excellence Awards (PDEA) 2025. The win highlights its rapid progress in adopting artificial intelligence across the financial sector.

The award was presented to Ryt Bank CEO Melvin Ooi by Minister of Digital Malaysia Dato’ Seri Gobind Singh Deo at the ceremony, which celebrates achievements in innovation across Malaysia’s technology landscape.

AI in action across banking

Ryt Bank has applied AI across its operations, including customer experience, fraud detection, risk management and operational efficiency. These efforts set a benchmark for intelligent, customer-centric banking in Malaysia.

“This award reflects what we have always believed. AI works best when it is human-led, designed to make banking easier, smarter and more thoughtful for Malaysians,” the bank said in a statement.

Partnership powering innovation

Alibaba Cloud, a key technology partner, said the collaboration demonstrates a shared vision for sovereign AI innovation and meaningful digital transformation.

“We are honoured to support Ryt Bank in its AI journey. This partnership shows how advanced infrastructure and financial services expertise can work together to shape the next wave of intelligent finance in Malaysia,” Alibaba Cloud noted.

The recognition shows that Malaysia’s digital banking sector is moving from licensing into active deployment of AI-powered solutions, with Ryt Bank positioning itself as a frontrunner in the intelligent finance space.

It also signals rising confidence that Malaysia’s digital banks can play a leading role in the region’s broader fintech transformation, in line with government efforts to accelerate digital inclusion and AI adoption.
